The Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA®) offers a
CROP Loan that features a 90% guarantee on loans of up to $30,000 made by local lenders.  Interest rates are competitive, and repayment is not due until March 31 of the following year.

Do I qualify for a CROP Loan?

You probably do if you can answer "Yes" to three questions:

• Are you unable to get conventional financing at the lender's standard interest rate?

• Is your debt-to-asset ratio 40% or greater?

• Do you meet your lender's prudent underwriting standards?

How can I use a CROP Loan?

Proceeds from a CROP loan can be used to buy animal feed, seed, fertilizer, pesticides, or to pay for land rent, custom hire, UCC filing fees, crop insurance, feeder animals, tillage services, equipment rental or repair, or utilities for commodity protection.

You cannot use CROP loan funds for property taxes, farm house utilities, existing loans, capital improvements, CROP loan interest, accounting services or revolving lines of credit.
